A total of 15 reviews and 59 comments were received from governmental organisations and the public during the review period for the Initial Environmental Impact Statement (IEIS).

Most of the feedback was related to the visual impact of the wind turbines and the subsequent effect on travel routes and tourist spots in the surrounding areas. There were also comments regarding the location of the Búrfell Wind Farm.

Proposal 3 is put forward in the Environmental Impact Statement to accommodate the comments received in the review period of the IEIS. These comments outlined concerns over the visual effects the Búrfell Wind Farm may have on residential areas and tourist spots. Additional concerns over other effects on tourist spots in close proximity to the wind farm, such as Áfangagil and Hólaskógur, were also considered. Proposal 3 is within the boundaries of proposals 1 and 2 and is therefore not defined as a new area. The proposal is a further development of the proposals assessed in the IEIS.

A detailed explanation of the factors that influenced the decision on the location of the Búrfell Wind Farm was also provided.
